Act Biography
Raptor Captor are a Leicester based five-piece formed at the tail end of 2008 by students from nearby universities. After a few months of careful refinement, Raptor Captor transformed their solid indie-rock sound in to something more forward-thinking. Now occasionally their synth-bass drives relentless dance numbers with inevitable guitar jangling; or perhaps the guitars crunch with delicate synth sprinkled on top; but all sounds are unmistakably Raptor Captor.
Somewhere in between writing songs and learning how to play them, Raptor Captor began gigging and entered the respected Original Band Showcase in 2009. The OBS is a renowned platform within the East Midlands which promotes up and coming local bands. After fewer than a dozen gigs, Raptor Captor narrowly missed out on winning a spot at the 2009 Summer Sundae, losing out to stiff competition in the final round.
For the remainder of 2009 Raptor Captor set about working on new material and, in January 2010, recorded and released a five-track EP entitled PEEP. The EP provides a varied preview of Raptor Captor’s repertoire moving effortlessly from sing-a-long chorus to driving bass; brooding synth hooks become stomping dance beats; and intense guitar riffs give way to tantalizing melodies.
Raptor Captor are now, as ever, looking forward with the hope of recording another EP in the summer and playing as many gigs as they can get their hands on.
