Act Biography

The foundations of The BoobyTraps were laid late in 2007 with the current lineup having been settled since 2008. The 'Traps' have been described as 'the next biggest thing to come out of Leicester since Kasabian.'

In June 2008 The Traps recorded their debut EP at Deadline Studios Leicester, entitled ‘Sooner Or Later’. This was followed by a launch night at The Charlotte Live Music Venue. That night saw the first live performance of the smash track ‘My Town.’ In turn, over 100 copies of their debut EP sold that night. The title track ’Sooner or Later was played the following week on local radio & frontman Jamie Wiliams gave his first live radio interview, although he did’nt know it at the time!

In October 2009 work commenced on the band’s second EP, ‘Estate Of Mind’ This EP would include 3 of the bands best known tracks – ‘Don’t Even Matter’ ‘Tell Your Friends’ & their own massive anthem ‘My Town.’All three tracks going on to receive regular radio airplay

The ‘Traps’ have played main stage headline slots at Glastonbudget Tribute & New Act Festival 2010 & 2011 with support to bands such as Detroit Social Club, Little Man Tate’s John Windle & fellow Leicester band & now friends, The Screening. As a direct result of the DSC support slot, DSC’s front man David Burn agreed to work with & record the Traps new material up in his Newcastle studio.

In August 2010 the band was invited to play the Leicester Summer Sundae Fringe Festival at The Shed – the biggest capacity venue of the event. The Traps played alongside old friends, The Screening, The Little Night Terrors, & SupeRevolver. The Traps opened, played a storming set & truly raised their own bar yet again.

The summer of 2011 will see the band embark upon some small local festivals & gigs across counties to increase their profile, exposure & fanbase.

The band list their influences from rock n roll to indie to britpop & metal, with bands such as Kasabian, Oasis, Pigeon Detectives, Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, The Verve all making their mark on the Trap’s spounds – as well as the occasional pizza & stella!
