Act Biography
From the flat, godforsaken landscape of eastern England’s Fenland farming country, we began our unholy musical crusade.
Bored natives of other barren landscapes often take the holy path, but somewhere east of Whittlesey some joker had turned the signpost of redemption round to face the wrong way. So we ended up accidentally going to hell.
Our hairdo influences range from Johnny Cash to Bettie Page with detours past Grace Slick, Roy Orbison, Joey Ramone and the Wolfman.
Good things we've done... We supported our guitar idol Link Wray on a fun-sized tour of Holland (before he died); we recorded one of our songs 'We Like Weird' adding in a theramin and a sitar to the strangely ethereal rock n roll mixture; Mark Vincent has been described in the music press as a 'cool stick-insect-a-billy' and Venus Raygun ('a kind of demented Doris Day') is THE sexiest front-person you will ever hope to see. With the emphasis on 'front'.
Gretsch guitars drenched in reverb and echo, strange hallucinatory voodoo beats, hearbeat bass and siren-like vocals: that's Empress of Fur.
